Herb ButtersTry adding an herbal butter to your sweet corn.Start with a 1/2 cup softened butter ingredients from one of the selections following.* 1 tsp.marjoram and 1 tsp. chopped fresh thyme.
* 2 tsp. chopped fresh dill and 1 tsp. chopped fresh thyme.
* 1 tbsp. fresh thinly sliced basil leaves and 1 tsp. chopped fresh thyme.
*1 tbsp. finely snipped oil~packed dried tomatoes, 1 tbsp.finely chopped chives and 1 clove minced garlic.* 2 tbsp. finely chopped parsley, 1 tbsp. finely grated lemon peel, and 1 tbsp. finely grated orange peel.
Place the ingredients that you have chosen in a small bowl, mix with the 1/2 cup softened butter. Stirring until combined. Cover and chill in the refrigerator. Bring the mixture to room temperature before serving.
BasilBasil is the main ingredient in Pesto Sauce. It is the perfect companion of fresh tomatoes as well as tomato sauce. It also goes well with rice, potatoes, peppers, carrots as well as eggplant.It is also a wonderful ingredient in a mixed green salad.* Puree fresh clean basil leaves together with enough extra~virgin olive oil to liquefy them. Freeze them in ice cube trays, after they are frozen remove from trays and place in resealable freezer bags or any freezer type container.* Chop or slice thinly several fresh basil leaves and sprinkle over fresh sliced tomatoes. Drizzle on a little olive oil , season with salt and pepper . Relax and enjoy with a nice crusty bread a tall glass of iced tea or a glass of white wine.
Italian parsley is best when used in cooking due to its milder flavor and juicy texture . It adds to the flavor of green salads and is great in egg dishes , steamed vegetables, beans, pasta and rice dishes. It is an excellent source of iron, vitamins A, C, and E.* For a new twist on pesto, combine 3 cups packed parsley leaves, 3 cloves garlic, chopped, and 3 tbsp. lemon juice with a 1/2 cup each toasted pine nuts, grated Parmesan cheese and olive oil.
Blend until well combined. Serve over pasta, potatoes , or as a dip with chips.* Green Juice...This is especially good for woman during her monthly cycle as it is choke full of well needed iron. OreganoOregano adds a zesty flavor to a variety of tomato and cheese dishes as well as many meat, egg , pepper, and eggplant dishes. Oregano is at times refereed to as the "PIZZA HERB". Oregano is easily aired dried for storage.Be sure to use it liberally on homemade pizza.* Make a savory garlic bread by mixing minced garlic, fresh oregano, and soft butter. Spread the mixture on thick slices of french bread, and broil until bubbly.* heat 1 tbsp. butter, and 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan . Add 2 scallions and 1 large clove garlic, minced. Saute gently until quite fragrant, about 2 to 3 mins. Add 1 pint whole cherry tomatoes, 1 1/2 tbsp. chopped fresh oregano, and 1/2 cup fresh chopped basil. ChivesChives are a mild member of the onion family. To set off the flavor of salads, eggs, potatoes, rice and many other dishes than you will want to add chopped up leaves of the chive.*Combining one stick of softened sweet butter with 1 tsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice, 3 tbsp. of fresh chopped chives and 1/4 tsp ground pepper.
